However, more important than the load capacity is the ability to lock the support arms, as the user wants to use the car lift to raise both vehicles with a short wheelbase (e.g. Smart) and those with a long wheelbase (T6, V-Class, Sprinter).
There are 2-fold and 3-fold telescopic support arms, the latter allowing for greater flexibility in terms of possible uses. No one uses a car lift with four support arms, all of which are double telescopic, if it can lift a T6 but not a BMW 3 Series because the wheelbase is too short to reach the lifting points.
