What are the differences between the two-post car lifts?
There is a wide range of 2-post car lifts to choose from. Differences include:

- Support arms: 2-stage or 3-stage telescopic, symmetrical or asymmetrical

There is an extremely wide range of robust car lifts to choose from. On the one hand, the 2-post lifts differ in their load capacity. For example, there are lifts with a load capacity of 4 to 5.5 tonnes. These values give an insight into the stability of the lift on offer. However, more important than the load capacity is the ability to lock the support arms, as the user wants to use the car lift to raise both vehicles with a short wheelbase (e.g. Smart) and those with a long wheelbase (T6, V-Class, Sprinter).
There are 2-fold and 3-fold telescopic support arms, the latter allowing for greater flexibility in terms of possible uses. No one uses a car lift with four support arms, all of which are double telescopic, if it can lift a T6 but not a BMW 3 Series because the wheelbase is too short to reach the lifting points. This is why buyers need to pay particular attention to this aspect.

Differences between hydraulic and mechanical 2-post lifts
In the hydraulic 2-post car lift, an electric motor ensures that the hydraulic oil is pumped under pressure into two cylinders, which lift the lifting carriage. This hydraulically operated car lift is particularly robust, low-maintenance and ideal for daily workshop use.
In the mechanical version, on the other hand, power is transmitted via a spindle that moves the vehicle upwards by means of a screw drive. This solution is particularly durable and offers precise control, safety and efficiency for your workshop.
How much does a 2-post lift weigh?
Depending on the model, equipment and material, the weight ranges between 500 kg and 900 kg. Models with a base frame, heavier support arms or additional safety technology may be even heavier.
